Sacred Valley VIP and Machu Picchu 2-Day Tour by Train
Combine the best of the Sacred Valley of the Incas with a guided tour of Machu Picchu in one trip, without returning to Cusco in between.
Experience Overview
The Sacred Valley VIP tour with connection to Machu Picchu is the most efficient way to see Cusco’s two greatest attractions in 2 days. On day one you explore the Sacred Valley of the Incas —viewpoints, Pisac, Urubamba and Ollantaytambo— and in the afternoon you catch the train straight from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes. You save hours of travel and arrive well rested for your Machu Picchu visit the next day.
Watered by the Vilcanota-Urubamba River, the Sacred Valley was the breadbasket of the Inca Empire thanks to its mild climate and fertile land. Today it is home to Quechua communities, craft markets, terraces and remarkable archaeological sites.
Places you will visit
- Taray Viewpoint: panoramic views of the valley and the Vilcanota River.
- Pisac: craft market and an archaeological complex with terraces carved into the mountainside.
- Urubamba: buffet lunch with traditional Andean and Novoandina cuisine.
- Ollantaytambo: Inca fortress with the Temple of the Sun and its pink granite monoliths; the only Inca town still inhabited.
- Machu Picchu: 2 to 2.5-hour guided tour of the citadel.
Tips
- Bring your original passport and a small backpack; your large luggage stays in Cusco.
- The Cusco Tourist Ticket (BTC) is required to enter Pisac and Ollantaytambo.
- Layered clothing, sunscreen, a hat and a rain jacket depending on the season.
